Kingswood District Joint Explorer and Scout Camp – 4-6th May 2024
Over the Early May bank holiday (4th-6th May), the Biblins Youth Campsite was buzzing with excitement as nearly 50 young Scouts and Explorers from the Kingswood District gathered for a weekend of adventure. This camp was organised to allow Scouts aged 13+ meet with the various Explorer Units before they transitioned to Explorer Scouts at age 14. With nearly 50 young people, and over 20 leaders assisting, the weekend was primed to be a highlight in everyone’s Scouting calendar!
The Explorers and Scouts engaged in a variety of thrilling activities designed to build their skills and teamwork. They scaled heights in climbing sessions, navigated the picturesque River Wye while canoeing, and honed their navigational skills through orienteering. Practical skills were a highlight, with the young people learning fire lighting, knife and axe skills, knotting, pioneering, and shelter building. These activities not only provided fun but also essential outdoor survival skills.
Delicious food kept everyone energised and ready for the next challenge. From hearty breakfasts (pancakes, bacon and maple syrup was a hightlight!) to BBQ dinners, the young Scouts enjoyed every meal which was much needed after the day’s activities.
The weekend was a fantastic success, filled with laughter, learning, and new friendships. Biblins Youth Campsite proved to be the perfect setting for this memorable adventure.
